Meet Our Staff!
| Scott Ewart
Kayaking, along with many other outdoor pursuits is my way of life, and absolutely love it! The adventure tourism and outdoor education industry has taken me many incredible places in the world and I continually find the wilderness as the most profound teacher in my life. After five years at Lakehead University and two degrees in Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism and Marketing Research + Strategies, along with courses in Environmental Design Architecture and Massage Therapy, I decided to travel the world, living everywhere from Tofino B.C. to Halifax N.S. and as far North as Dawson City Yukon to Costa Rica and Mexico. I have always come home to the 1000 Islands and felt connected to this place and have thoroughly enjoyed guiding for the kayaking company even years before taking ownership in 2007. As an Aquarius, the water fascinates me as one of the most powerful and influential substances on the planet and believe kayaking is the most intimate way to connect with it. Whether it’s the glide of a single hull through the calm waters at sunset or the rush of a cascading class four creek, the kayak gives me a new lens to view both the world and myself through. I have chosen the kayak as the tool to inspire people by where my goal is to facilitate opportunities for self growth, respect for our natural environment and positive social interactions. The sport is beginner friendly, forgiving yet humbling and will give you access to incredible places, emotions, wildlife and people. Just by sitting in a kayak, you are instantly connected with 4000+ years of history, engaged in a healthy activity and will learn new things about yourself, friends and the area you live. I can’t wait to meet you on the river and look forward to sharing the beautiful 1000 Islands with you! Scott Ewart, owner |

| Colin Sacco
Colin likes to spend as much of his time as possible outdoors, having fun with people, and moving. Working at 1000IKC, is the perfect marriage of these things. He knows the plants and animals of the region quite well, which he likes to share on trips while also learning from many clients who come with their own knowledge. He knows at least a hundred different games that require no equipment, for when you might be taking a break on shore. When he is not on the water, Colin is probably enjoying time with family and friends or working as an elementary school teacher. What he likes best about 1000IKC? The company’s philosophy: deep ecology, and empowering people to care more about their environment through enjoyment and awareness. |

| Bryan Frith
I am a recent graduate of St. Lawrence College Brockville’s Child and Youth Worker program. I was originally born and raised in Toronto and moved to Brockville in the winter of 2006. This summer I get to combine my two passions: working with children, and exploring the outdoors through active play. I began Kayaking when I was 10 years old at summer camp. I enjoy the sport of Kayaking because it is a unique activity that is both an individual and group experience. Kayaking is a sport that is very easy to learn and provides a fun, rewarding, and healthy way to explore the 1000 Islands region. Once I moved to the 1000 islands region a few years ago, I fell in love with the island experience and wanted to get back into Kayaking. I have worked with a few youth organizations in Brockville over the past 2 years one of them being the YMCA adventure Camp last summer. My goal for this summer is to share my passions for the 1000 islands, the outdoors, and Kayaking with as many young people as I encounter this summer. |
