1000 IKC Policies

Please Read and Understand these Company Policies.

Payment:

We accept Visa and MasterCard, as well as, Traveler's Cheques or Certified Cheques. Do not send personal cheques in the mail. Full Payment per person guarantees a sea - please book as early as possible.


Cancellation:

If 1000 ISlands Kayaking Company cancels a program for any reason, you will receive a 100% refund on your trip or will be transferred to another program date. We will cancel trips for dangerous weather conditions at the lead guide's discretion.

A 25% deposit will be kept regardless of the reason you cancel a program. This is to cover administrative costs.

We would also be glad to offer a full credit towards another date if the cancellation occurs before 24 hours from the departure time. Any program cancelled within 24 hours of departure will not be rewarded any refund or transfer privileges.


Parking Fees:

Several of the sites used to launch our kayaking trips will charge a parking and day use fee. These fees vary from $5.00 to $11.00 per vehicle and are your responsibility to pay to the appropriate authority. Your confirmation package will inform you of the parking fee for that designated location.


Evacuations:

Any form of evacuation that ends your trip short for whatever reason is financially your responsibility. We can assist in making quick and efficient evacuations at any time on your behalf. Most evacuations occur by water taxi service and cost around $50.00.


Insurance:

The 1000 Islands Kayaking Company strongly advises you to check your current insurance coverage. We recommend you have adequate medical and personal injury insurance for travel in Ontario, Canada.


Personal Property:

The 1000 Islands Kayaking Company will not be held responsible for lost damaged or stolen property. Please take care to waterproof all your valuables(we can provide dry bags).


Physical Requirements:

While our trips are not strenuous, good health is necessary. You must determine if your own fitness is appropriate. If you have any concerns please call us or consult your physician before your trip. We can also provide you with our boat sizes and dimensions if you have any other concerns.


Forms - Waivers, Indemnification, Medical:

In this package you will find one Medical Form and one Waiver Form per person. If a minor (under the age of 18) is registered then a waiver and an indemnification form must be signed and completed by the legal guardian or parent on behalf of the minor. Please take the time to read and understand the forms that you are signing and if you have any questions or concerns about the content, please do not hesitate to call us at the office.


Medical forms are to be completed and submitted to our office prior to your trip departure.


Waiver forms are to be completed at the launch site in the presence of a 1000
        Islands Kayaking Company staff member.


Each participant will receive these forms well in advance of the departure date to ensure enough
        time to read and understand the forms they are signing.


Code of Conduct:

The guides and participants of the 1000 Islands Kayaking Company are expected to act and behave within a normal code of conduct when interacting with others on any trip. This includes persons, property and operations that are directly and indirectly affected by these trips.

Although the objective is to have fun and relax, we expect that the rights and treatment of others at anytime on these trips will be respected. 1000 Islands Kayaking Company staff reserve the right to remove a participant from a program at their discretion for substance use, disrespectful or unsafe behaviour.


Rules and Regulations:

Safety First - All participants involved with these trips will adhere to the safety rules and policies set out by the 1000 Islands Kayaking Company, its Guides and Staff.


Rules:

No Alcohol or Recreation Drugs while on trip.

No one will put another participant or themselves in harms way by       ignoring the safety rules or the on water etiquette outlined by
      guides prior to departure.

We travel as a small group.

Do not stray from the group while on the water.

Do not intentionally rock or tip the boats.

Do not paddle ahead of the lead guide or fall behind the assistant guide.

PDF's (life jackets) must be worn at all times when on water.

Footwear must be worn at all times

Report any concerns or comments of any nature to your lead guide.

All participants are responsible for their own actions.

All legal guardians take full responsibility for minor(s) in their care.

Follow all instructions and regulations for a safe and enjoyable trip.

If you plan to leave the group tell the guide your plans.

The guide has the final say.



1000 Islands Kayaking Company Waiver

Participatrion Agreement between 1000 Islands Kayaking Company and the participant

I am aware that the activity I am about to participate in is physically demanding and potentially dangerous, and the possibility of injury, loss, trauma, aggravation of pre-existing conditions, drowning and death does exist.

I acknowledge that there are unforeseeable risks beyond the control of 1000 IKC that I will be exposed to while participating, including but not limited to: power boats, thunder-storms, other participants, wildlife and plants, my own physical limitations and inclement weather, and I voluntarily accept exposure to these risks.

Specifically, I understand that my boat may capsize at any time during the activity. I will properly wear my Personal Flotation Device at all time on the water and 1000 IKC is not responsible for reimbursing the loss of any valuables.

I will follow and comply with each and all instructions given by the 1000 IKC, its guides, instructors and any employees.

I declare that I am not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that I will not partake in the use of any for the duration of the activity. 1000 IKC has explained, illustrated/demonstrated to my satisfaction the nature, risks, and dangers of the activity I am about to participate in, and I accept these risks.

I declare my intentions to participate in a 1000 IKC program at my own understanding and risk I specifically release on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives and next of kin, hereby release and hold harmless on 1000 IKC, its employees and volunteers from any responsibility regarding any loss or damage that I might suffer.

What to Bring

Use this list to know what to come prepared with.

Please bring warm clothes to bring out on trip during the spring + fall, we will provide a dry bag.

Please bring a change of clothes for after your trip. On hot days you may want to go swimming so bring along swimwear if you wish. Please feel free to bring along anything else you feel would make you as comfortable as possible on your trip. If you have any concerns about bringing additional items or the storage capacity of our boats, please contact our office.

What to Bring to Courses

Here is a detailed list of the items to bring for your course.

Please bring a change of clothes for after your day on the water. We can provide you with a dry bag to waterproof any additional items you wish to bring on the water. If you have any concerns about additional items or the storage capacity of our boats, please contact our office.
