National Sea Kayak Symposium

A weekend of paddling on Madawaska River!

Adventure Kayak's National Sea Kayak Symposium (NaSKS) is a gathering of sea kayak and kayak touring paddlers, run in combination with Palmer Fest. NaSKS is an on-water instruction-based weekend of teaching and sharing skills, knowledge, experiences and good times on the water.

It's a weekend of on-water clinics, demonstrations and general camaraderie for sea kayakers of all abilities. NaSKS was inspired by the West Coast Sea Kayak Symposium held every year in Port Townsend, Washington. Using the proven Palmer Fest event model to focus on beginner, intermediate and advanced skill development we've taken everything we've learned from 12 years of traveling to festivals and symposiums and put it all together./

NaSKS is presented by Adventure Kayak and Rapid Media and hosted at the Paddler Co-op Boathouse.

Registration includes:

#Two days of professional canoeing or kayaking instruction

Paddle Party 2010

A wide varity of boats and clinics to test the waters with!

The event takes place on Cole Lake at our Paddling Centre. A more detailed schedule of these clinics will be posted closer to the event date. The highlight for a lot of people is to simply come and try out a wide variety of boats. There are hundreds on site, with lots of knowledgeable people available to answer questions and coach. You can use one of our boats for the clinics at no charge. We'll have a cafe set up for light snacks and the Saturday concert will be well worth taking in.

1000 Islands Kayaking will be there to set up a display booth to promote our programs and assist with teaching paddling clinics. We love visiting our friends on Georgian Bay and are happy to volunteer our instructors to support this event. We strongly encourage you to make the trip up for this weekend and test paddle hundreds of kayaks and learn exciting new skills from some of the best instructors in the country!

Storm Gathering 2010

On-land workshops and water sessions will push your skill to the next level!

This weekend is for intermediate paddlers and instructors seeking one last weekend for the season on the Bay before winter sets in. Together, we'll work through a practical yet informal weekend of sea kayaking with emphasis on changing conditions, safety/risk management, and open crossings.

1000 Island Kayaking will be there with our most advanced instructors to help with on-water clinics and skill development. Many of us from 1000 Islands enjoy taking clinics from new instructors in light of professional development. Don't let the cool water scare you, this is the most beautiful time to be on the water and the quality of instruction and paddling is amazing.
