Kids Kayaking Camps

Get outdoors, stay active, make new friends, love the sport for life

1000 Islands Kayaking is pleased to host our Active Kids Kayaking programs in Kingston, Brockville and Gananoque for the 2011 paddling season. The 5 day Adventure and Discovery programs are a perfect opportunity for engaging kids with our rivers, nature and healthy, outdoor activities. All our youth courses include the required kayaking safety equipment, nationally certified instructors in a 6:1 ratio, and professional programming to ensure a safe and educational experience.

Our programs support a strong philosophy of experiential learning for lasting education. The foundation of the Adventure and Discovery programs is water safety awareness. Youth develop skills and confidence in boat control, re-entries, trip planning and teamwork all with the common goal of paddling away self-reliant with a positive affinity for future outdoor recreation. We look forward to seeing your family on the water this Summer!

Discover Kayak Program (Ages 8-11)

The Discovery Program is all about engaging children with the outdoors in a fun and positive way. We play in the kayaks learning experiential about boat control, self and partner rescues, and proper use of essential safety equipment. As a bonus, we paddle close to some amazing wildlife for mini ecology lessons. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming, group games and actively exploring National Park Islands and Historic Sites of the Rideau Canal. Each day is a new discovery.

Adventure Kayak Program (Ages 12-15)

The Adventure Kayak program is designed to facilitate independence and good judgment within the sport of kayaking. Students will have the opportunity to explore several kayaking routes in our area and practice leadership skills in trip planning, navigation and risk assessment. We develop skills that can be transferred beyond the sport of kayaking to start making critical decisions based on good judgment. Youth develop a deeper appreciation for the unique ecology and history of our region through personal encounters on our National Park Islands and Historical Sites.
