This challenging kayaking program is focused on leadership development for youth interested in personal kayak tripping or working as a professional in the outdoor industry. The 5 day course includes a national Level 1 Skills certification from Paddle Canada and a 2 night camping expedition in the 1000 Islands. The one week apprentice training component with our Discovery or Adventure programs, allows for practical application of leadership skills. Students will develop and apply knowledge in group management, navigation, trip planning, risk management and advanced rescues. Our goal is to support a personal mastery of kayaking skills and increase awareness of group needs to build a strong foundation for future leaders. Includes all camping and kayaking equipment and meals for 3 day expedition.
What this program includes:
Paddling Instruction
5 days paddling instruction working towards a Level 1 National Sea Kayaking Certification from Paddle Canada.
Camping Expedition
3 day, 2 night kayaking trip amongst the St. Lawrence Islands National Park.
Leadership Training
1 week leadership training with our Active Kids Discovery or Adventure Programs. These hours of leadership training will count towards secondary school community service volunteer time.
