Get your kids outside this summer. Gananoque and Lyndhurst kids kayaking clubs are a perfect social activity for youth ages 8-15. All the equipment is included and our certified staff will ensure they have a fun and positive exposure to the sport of kayaking. This non-competitive introduction is a great alternative for children to get on the river and spend time with their friends while learning new skills and connecting with nature.

Youth will learn essential skills such as: packing and preparing for a safe day on the water, equipment regulations, boat control and stroke efficiency, assisted and unassisted rescues and engage in many exciting stories about the region’s history and ecology. Help your kids build lasting friendships and connect with our river.

If your children are thinking of joining a competitive paddling club, this is a softer introduction to the sport that is less intimidating. We can work with your child to teach necessary strokes and boat control with a natural progression towards competitive techniques. Once they have the essential skills mastered they will enjoy the rush of faster sprint kayaks used by competitive paddlers and would like to see many.

Lyndhurst programs are running every Friday from 12 – 4 pm for 2 four week sessions starting July 2 – July 23 and Aug 6 – 27. We will be transporting boats and certified instructors into Lyndhurst for an afternoon of adventure and skill development. Once the kids are off the water, adults can come join us for an evening sunset paddle with the Lyndhurst recreational paddling club.

If this program is successful in 2010, 1000 Islands Kayaking intends to help organize a permanent canoe and kayak facility in partnership with the Township of Leeds and the 1000 Islands and the local Lyndhurst paddling club.
