Visitors are intrigued with the 1000 Islands and have marvelled at its beauty ever since the French explorers. Come paddle through three of Canada’s most impressive river systems and over 1800 islands and islets at the source of the St Lawrence River. Explore deep channels and wide reed beds while observing rocky shoals, submerged cliffs, and shallow wetlands. Investigate the migratory stepping stones for a diverse range of plants and animals, a meeting place of five forest eco-regions and two countries.
Propelled by paddle and kayak, this personal journey leads you through some of Canada’s richest areas of cultural history and ecological diversity. We launch into the early morning mists of the Rideau Canal, (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) for a 6-day 5-night exploration of the awe-inspiring Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve (a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve).
The paddling, photography, wildlife and history of the Rideau Canal, Gananoque River and 1000 Islands are incredible. A combination of camping by the river on National Park Islands along with luxurious B+B’s and incredible meals sets you up lavishly for this hassle free adventure. Get up close to early Canadian settlement with stories and stops at several world heritage sites. Paddle with many rare species in a unique and biologically diverse region. What a beautiful way to experience the Rideau Canal World Heritage Site, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve and the world famous 1000 Islands all in one incredible Week of Rivers!
